PASSPORT REQUIREMENTS

FOR NATIONALS OF ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA

Guidance information and Checklist

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR RENEWAL OF ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA PASSPORTS FOR APPLICANTS WHO ARE UK CITIZENS

If the applicant was born in the United Kingdom to parents who are citizens of Antigua and Barbuda by birth:

  1. Completed passport application form (found here)

  2. Two (2) identical coloured photographs taken within the last six (6) months. They must be original photos, not altered in any way and not taken from any existing photos.
    a. Photographs must be 45mm x 35mm (1.77 x 1.38 inches).
    b. The applicant must show a full frontal view of the head (including ears) and shoulders without head covering (except for religious or medical reasons supported by documentary evidence), no dark spectacles and with a neutral facial expression.
    c. Photographs must be taken against a plain white background without shadows, and applicants should avoid wearing white clothing.
    d. Photographs must not be attached to the form using paper clips or staples; instead, please place them in a small passport-sized envelope.

  3. Copy of bio-data page of applicant’s UK passport (original passport to be produced for verification).

  4. Applicant’s apostilled birth certificate, bearing parents’ names. Information on obtaining an apostille can be found here.

  5. Antigua and Barbuda birth certificate of the parent through whom the applicant is claiming citizenship.

  6. Antigua and Barbuda baptismal certificate of parent (if using father’s name and it does not appear on birth certificate).

  7. Affidavit of identity (if applicable – found here)

  8. Apostilled marriage certificate of applicant (if registered outside of Antigua and Barbuda).

  9. Apostilled marriage certificate of parents (if registered outside of Antigua and Barbuda).


If the applicant was born in the United Kingdom to grandparents who are citizens of Antigua and Barbuda by birth:

  1. Completed passport application form (found here)

  2. Two (2) identical coloured photographs taken within the last six (6) months. They must be original photos, not altered in any way and not taken from any existing photos.
    a. The size must be 45mm x 35mm (1.77 x 1.38 inches).
    b. Show a full frontal view of the head (including ears) and shoulders without a head covering (except for religious or medical reasons supported by documentary evidence), no dark spectacles and with a neutral facial expression.
    c. Taken against a plain white background without shadows. Applicants should avoid wearing white clothing.

  3. Copy of bio-data page of applicant’s passport from country of birth (original passport).

  4. Applicant’s apostilled birth certificate, bearing parents’ names. Information on obtaining an apostille can be found here.

  5. The birth certificate of a parent through whom the applicant is claiming citizenship by descent (grandparents).

  6. The birth certificate of Antiguan and Barbudan grandparents.

  7. Baptismal certificate of applicant, parent and grandparent (if applicable).

  8. Marriage certificate of applicant, parent and grandparent (if applicable).


FIRST TIME APPLICANTS (UK CITIZENS)

All first-time applicants for Antigua and Barbuda passports must be interviewed. The following requirements must also be satisfied:

  1. Completed passport application form. (found here)

  2. Proof of identification (valid passport).

  3. Copy of the parent’s photo identification (e.g. passport) through whom entitlement to citizenship is obtained (see instructions above).

  4. The parents of applicants under age 16 must be interviewed, and a copy of their photograph identification (e.g. passport) be produced for our records.

  5. Provision of the name, address, and contact number of two referees in Antigua and Barbuda known by the applicant or his/her parent.


KINDLY NOTE: The Passport Office in Antigua will not process applications that do not satisfy all requirements listed above. Moreover, please note that passport processing times may take approximately 8 weeks owing to the exigencies of the Passport Office in Antigua.
