Nominations Still Open For The Commonwealth Youth Awards for Excellence in Development Work 2021

he Antigua and Barbuda High Commission in the United Kingdom wishes to share with you information regarding the Commonwealth Youth Awards for Excellence in Development Work 2021 in the hope for a young Antiguan and Barbudan to be nominated and selected for an award. Moreover, for this year, the Caribbean has its own independent regional category and as such, the Commonwealth Secretariat is keen to have nominations from Antigua and Barbuda.

The Commonwealth Youth Awards Programme aims to raise the profile and highlight the contributions of young people across the Commonwealth in their efforts to help their communities and at large, their country to achieve key aspects of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Furthermore, it recognises the great work that young people are doing throughout the Commonwealth, ranging from poverty alleviation to conflict prevention and resolution, to promoting and enhancing democracy and development. Particularly in the context of the 2020 COVID-19 global pandemic, the 2021 Commonwealth Youth Awards Programme also aims to place a spotlight on young change-makers who are actively working to address and/or mitigate the health, social, economic, cultural, and environmental impact of the pandemic. Do note that persons who are being considered for this award must demonstrate a measurable/tangible impact through their development work in this regard.

We therefore kindly ask for this opportunity to be shared with and among your networks and media platforms so we can see the Caribbean’s best (Antiguan and Barbudan) candidates amongst the top 20 this year.

The deadline is 23:59 GMT on 21 October 2020.
