The Ireland Fellows Programme proudly announces its commitment to nurturing future leaders by providing early to mid-career professionals from eligible Small Island Developing States (SIDS) with the opportunity to pursue a prestigious, world-class education in Ireland. This transformative initiative is a key component of Ireland’s Second Strategy for Partnership with SIDS, reflecting Ireland’s dedication to global collaboration and sustainable development.
The Ireland Fellows Programme offersselected students a fully funded one-year master’slevel programme at renowned higher education institutions (HEIs) in Ireland. The scholarship covers all programme fees, flights, accommodation, and living costs, ensuring that financial barriers do not impede access to quality education. The programme strongly emphasises promoting gender equality, equal opportunity, and welcoming diversity. It also seeks to build capacity and foster inclusive growth.
Since its inception in 2020, the programme has awarded scholarships to over 60 fellows from 26 SIDS,reinforcing Ireland’s commitmentto sustainable development and global partnership. The aims of the programme include nurturing future leaders, developing in-country capacity to achieve national Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), addressing climate change, and building positive relationships between Ireland and the fellows’ home countries.
Eligible master’s level programmes span a wide range of disciplines, including environmental leadership, food security, marine management, engineering, science and technology, development studies, international relations, law, human rights, gender and equality, health, education, information systems, social policy, and business. These programmes commence in August or September each year and typically run for 10 to 16 months.
The Ireland Fellows Programme, fully funded by the Irish Government under the Department of Foreign Affairs(DFA), welcomes applicationsfrom professionals holding a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) awarded within the last 12 years. Applicantsshould not already hold a master’s level qualification or higher and must demonstrate a satisfactory level of English proficiency, verified through language testing.
