Antigua and Barbuda and Singapore Explore Technical Cooperation Ahead of CHOGM 2026

As preparations continue for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2026, Antigua and Barbuda is strengthening partnerships with international allies to ensure the successful hosting of the major global event.

The Honourable E. P. Chet Greene, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Barbuda Affairs of Antigua and Barbuda, recently held a bilateral meeting with Mr. Luke Goh, Permanent Secretary for Law and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore. The meeting took place on the margins of the Commonwealth Foreign Ministers Meeting in London, where leaders gathered to discuss key priorities across the Commonwealth.

Focus on Technical Cooperation

Discussions centered on Antigua and Barbuda’s preparations to host CHOGM 2026 in St. John’s from 1–4 November 2026, an event expected to bring together thousands of delegates from across the Commonwealth. The meeting also explored opportunities for collaboration between Antigua and Barbuda and Singapore in support of the upcoming summit.

During the talks, Mr. Goh indicated that Singapore is willing to provide technical assistance and training to support Antigua and Barbuda’s preparations. Drawing on its extensive experience in governance, public administration, and the organization of major international events, Singapore offered expertise that could contribute to the effective delivery of CHOGM 2026.

Strengthening International Partnerships

Minister Greene welcomed Singapore’s offer of support, emphasizing the importance of strong partnerships within the Commonwealth and beyond as Antigua and Barbuda prepares to host one of the most significant international meetings in its history.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation and expressed confidence that CHOGM 2026 will provide an important platform for dialogue, collaboration, and the advancement of shared priorities among Commonwealth member states.

Minister Greene was accompanied by Her Excellency Karen-Mae Hill, High Commissioner at the Antigua and Barbuda High Commission in London, and Ms. Chantal Phillip, Minister Counsellor.

Looking Ahead to CHOGM 2026

With the global spotlight set to turn to Antigua and Barbuda in November 2026, engagements such as this bilateral meeting highlight the country’s commitment to collaboration and strategic preparation. Through partnerships with experienced nations like Singapore, Antigua and Barbuda continues to strengthen the technical, logistical, and diplomatic foundations necessary to host a successful and impactful Commonwealth summit.
