Foreign Ministers from across the Commonwealth convened in London for the 26th Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting (CFAMM), focusing on reform, renewal, and strengthening multilateral cooperation in an increasingly fragmented global environment.
Held on the eve of Commonwealth Day, the meeting brought together ministers and senior representatives from Commonwealth member states to discuss how the organisation can respond to global challenges while reinforcing its commitment to shared values, cooperation, and collective prosperity. Discussions centred on the need to modernise Commonwealth institutions, enhance collaboration among member states, and identify practical solutions to address pressing global issues. Ministers also examined policy priorities leading up to the 28th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), which will take place in Antigua and Barbuda from 1–4 November 2026. (Commonwealth)
A key moment during the meeting was the opening session moderated by Antigua and Barbuda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Trade, the Honourable E. P. Chet Greene. During the session, Minister Greene provided an update on preparations for the upcoming CHOGM 2026 summit, which Antigua and Barbuda will host later this year.
The meeting underscored the Commonwealth’s continued role as a platform for dialogue and cooperation among its 56 member countries. Ministers explored ways to strengthen multilateral partnerships and ensure that the Commonwealth remains responsive to global developments affecting member states, particularly small and vulnerable countries.
The gathering also marked the beginning of activities leading into Commonwealth Day, celebrated annually on the second Monday in March. Commonwealth leaders and officials used the opportunity to reaffirm their shared commitment to democratic values, sustainable development, and international cooperation.
As preparations continue for CHOGM 2026 in Antigua and Barbuda, discussions at the London meeting highlighted the importance of coordinated action and renewed commitment among Commonwealth nations to address global challenges and unlock opportunities for shared prosperity.
